The fridge image shows a corner cutout on the outside rear area of the fridge. This is where the compressor is located. The cutout is not a void space running the width of the fridge.

For maximum efficiency and performance, it is very important that the warm air behind the fridge be allowed to escape to another area and cooler air drawn in to replace it. If air cannot circulate behind the fridge, a small fridge wall vent should be fitted.
