General Questions & Answers

1. What is the difference between the Autoterm Air 2D and 4D models?
The primary difference is the heating power. The Air 2D provides up to 2kW of heat and is ideal for smaller spaces like campervans, small boats, or truck cabs. The Air 4D provides 4kW of power, making it better suited for larger motorhomes, medium-sized yachts, or workspaces. Both models share the same high-quality internal components and brushless motors.

2. Are Autoterm heaters diesel or petrol powered?
The Autoterm Air series heaters are diesel-powered. They can draw fuel directly from your vehicle's main diesel tank or from a separate external fuel tank.

3. How much fuel and power do these heaters consume?
Autoterm heaters are highly efficient. Fuel consumption ranges from approximately 0.10L to 0.24L per hour for the Air 2D, and 0.12L to 0.51L per hour for the Air 4D, depending on the heat setting. Power consumption is also low, making them safe to run overnight without draining a healthy leisure battery.

4. Can I use the Autoterm heater at high altitudes?
Yes. Both the Air 2D and 4D come with a built-in high-altitude kit. This allows the heater to automatically adjust its fuel-to-air ratio for efficient operation at altitudes up to 2500 meters.

5. How quiet is the heater during operation?
Autoterm heaters are designed for comfort. They feature brushless motors for smooth operation and come standard with a Silent Fuel Pump, which significantly reduces the "clicking" sound typical of older diesel heaters.

6. Can I install an Autoterm heater in a boat?
Absolutely. Autoterm heaters are widely used in the marine industry. We recommend using a specific marine installation kit, which includes a stainless steel exhaust skin fitting and appropriate ducting to handle the marine environment.

7. Do Autoterm heaters require regular maintenance?
They are designed to be low-maintenance. However, for longevity, we recommend running the heater on its maximum setting for about 20–30 minutes once a month (even in summer) to clear any carbon buildup in the combustion chamber.

8. Are these heaters safe to leave on while I sleep?
Yes. Autoterm heaters have multiple safety sensors. If the flame goes out, the unit overheats, or the battery voltage drops too low, the heater will automatically shut down and display an error code on the controller.

9. What is the lifespan of an Autoterm heater?
Thanks to the brushless induction motors, Autoterm heaters are rated for a service life of over 12,000 operating hours.

10. What are the features of the Comfort Control Panel?
The Autoterm Comfort Control Panel is an intuitive digital interface featuring a built-in temperature sensor, a vehicle battery safety monitor, and a maintenance reminder. It offers four distinct operating modes to suit your needs: Temperature Mode (constant heat adjustment), Thermostat Mode (on/off cycling based on set temperature), Power Mode (fixed output), and Heat + Ventilation (circulates air between heating cycles). It also includes a quick-access heating button and programmable timers for scheduled warmth.
