On the hot water outlet, the thermostat mixing valve (also called a temping valve) will mix cold water with hot water to reduce the temperature to a safe level. This temperature is preset at 55 degC but can be easily adjusted with a knob mounted on the side of the water heater. The electric element it set to keep the water in the cyclined to 70degC. If you are using the engine water (which can be around 92degC) for heating, the cycliner water temperature can get up to 85degC.
